No, not THAT closet. You know, the conservative Republican one (it's a big closet!). I ran into the mother of an old friend tonight. I see her occasionally in the grocery store (where she sees me shopping for organic produce so would that make me a lib?!) and I have known for years that they are very liberal (Dad's a college prof, need I say more?), but before tonight, politics never came up. I mentioned that I will be moving to Texas and she told me she was sorry I'd be in the same state as the Bushes. I muttered "Well, I'll be far away". I currently live in the same state as Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer, but I'm still as smart and conservative as I always was. ;-) Next she asked if I knew how dirty the air there was. Ha! I have lived in So Cal for over 30 years and if the air here hasn't killed me yet, I'm sure the Texas air is just fine. She then gave me two avenues of enlightenment, one a website called something like "Democracy Now" and one radio conglomerate (although they're libs, so I am sure they don't want to be referred to as a conglomerate!) that they also have in Texas. One of the websites said something about "Alternative Media is more important than ever now!" Ain't that the truth? Except I don't think they meant Rush Limbaugh and Townhall.... She said the radio conglomerate (?) was founded by artists and journalists who are against war. Oh, okay... because I am an artist, I should be against war? Okay, let me grab my bong and my tie-dye and I'll be right over to the war protest.... NOT! I make sweet little block print cards that celebrate traditional family life--babies (which most liberals are in favor of killing if they're not convenient), weddings, and I am even working on a card that a portion of the sales will go to Soldiers Angels. And I actually even would like to start some kind of a collective (that's SUCH a communist word) website for pro-life artists and crafters, because trust me, one does not exist. I currently lurk on a crafter's website where they have things like links to a contest sponsored by Planned Parenthood where you can decorate panties to celebrate "choice". However, they have pretty good info on running a business by yourself if you are selling handmade stuff, so I stick with it. This post would have been much better with links ( for some reason my computer kept freezing when I tried the link feature--but I'm sure it's the computer, not Townhall!). Anyway, back into my closet, I'll come out of the closet in Texas. :-)
